With more than 25 years of experience in the medical field, Dr. Carol Lynn Childers is a full-time hospitalist specializing in psychiatry and addiction medicine at Methodist Hospital of Chicago. Since October of 2013, Dr. Carol Lynn Childers has been responsible for patients in the hospital’s 26-bed, co-ed adult unit as well as its 12-bed male unit for patients with aggressive disorders. Additionally, she sees individuals at the outpatient clinic and treats chronically mentally-ill patients at various residential facilities.

Prior to joining Methodist Hospital of Chicago, Dr. Childers operated an adult general psychiatry and addiction medicine private practice for 14 years, during which time she also served as a psychiatric consultant with Community Counseling Centers of Chicago. She has a combined six years of experience with the University of Chicago’s Department of Psychiatry, including time accrued during her residency.

Dr. Childers earned her doctor of medicine in 1986 from McGill University in Montreal, and she holds a bachelor’s in French literature from Yale University. She earned diplomate certification in psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 1992, and is an affiliated member of the American Psychiatric Society and the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
